Frequently Asked Questions

What follows are some of the more common questions asked of me. If you have additional questions please don't hesitate to call or email me. See the CONTACT page for my address and phone number.

Why aren't there more photographs on the website?
The website is my online portfolio. The main purpose is to communicate the nature and style of my work.

Where  are you  located?

I operate out of
Solana Beach California just north of San Diego.

What is your photographic style?
My work as a photojournalist has influenced my style greatly in portrait and editorial work.

Do you use digital or film?
Both. The needs of the client and nature of the shoot dictate the format. I use equipment ranging from digital DSLR to 4x5 view camera.

How much time is necessary for a portrait session?
Typically 1 hour or less should suffice. I understand your time is important but I am willing to spend as much time as necessary to insure the best outcome.

Can we proof our images before purchase?
Yes. Proofs will be made available either by hardcopy or on the website in a password protected folder.

What is your turnaround time?
Depending on the nature of the shoot delivery of image proofs can be as quick as the same day and up to 2 weeks for complex projects.

How do we pay for services/photographs?
Cash or check. I request 50% up front for portrait sessions and event photography. Editorial and commercial contracts vary somewhat. Please call for details.

What is a model release?
Basically a document that stipulates the terms under which one party may use pictures taken of another party. I ask my clients to sign a release that allows me to use you image for things like promotional material/webpage. I will never use your images for other commercial projects without your express consent. I am happy to discuss this when we meet.

Where does the portrait session take place?
Portrait sessions can be accomplished on location or at your home/office. Studio space can be arranged  at additional cost.

How should we prepare for the portrait session?
Keep it simple!. I want your personality to shine through and not conflict with the clothes or surroundings.Attire can be formal or casual depending on your desires.
- I recommend clothes that are plain in color. For group shots similar attire ( for example: all in jeans with light shirt) has a nice clean look.
- Prior to the photo session we will discuss what look will work best for you. I do not provide hair/makeup services which would be billed seperately.

I like what I see on your website. Are the images available for purchase and are there more?
YES and YES. All images shown on the website and many more are available for purchase/licensing. Prints, matted and/or framed in various sizes can be provided. Please note: most prints are produced in limited editions and may no longer be available.
